I think that's great but what's not brought up in that is no matter how good you shoot it or how many great special effects there are you still need to tell a story. Chris Nolan is a good story teller or he knows a good story when he sees one. You can reign in some of these budgets and still make great movies. The problem is that most of these studios hire people just out of business school or law school or marketing school and they think they know more about story than the writers and directors. Most of these movies are destroyed in the development phase. Then you get some actors that are great actors but not storytellers who want to change things to "suit their character" more and you end up with a pile of dung. The studios then just start throwing money at it until they've got $300 million dollar budgets. Step one to making a great movie - story. Just ask Pixar.
