The original design was German, developed for urban fighting on the Eastern Front. It was a gradually bending barrel, something like 60° of arc IIRC. There were mirrors used for the sighting system (and early variation of mirrors as sights was used with a straight barreled Mauser sniper rifle in the WW1 trenches). Typically, this rifle was not employed until after the enemy was located /engaged, at which time it served as a sort of offensive sniper weapon. AFAIK, all the German rifles bent to the left, so if they had to shoot around a building to the right, it was worse than useless. This Israeli design seems to be more flexible, but nowhere near as precise.
